Telumar First-Level Stairwells

There is a vague pale light everywhere, about as bright as a sunset, but there is something odd about it: there are no shadows. The light comes from the entire ceiling and all the walls. The effect is eerie and unsettling. It is warm in here even though no door separates the room from the outside above. There is also no dirt anywhere on the floor or in the corners despite there being an open hole in the ceiling though which dust should routinely fall.

The closed three sides of the stairwell openings going further down are marked with a silver bar that comes out of the floor, bends around the perimeter of the opening, and goes back into the floor. Between the railing and the floor is the same invisible barrier as in the stairs up to the roof.
